Leaf Suppliers

Whole leaf tobacco for wrappers, binders, and filler.

Community

  • Fair Trade Tobacco — forum and community dedicated to growing, curing, and processing tobacco. Wealth of information on cigars and other tobaco products.
  • Cigar Rollers — Facebook group dedicated to rolling cigars.

Tools

  • Wood Cutting Board — find something cheap and local. I would not recommend using something you plan to prepare food on. Plastic is initially nice, but gets gouged up very quickly.
  • Steel Cutting Board — for wet work. I don't do a lot of wet work but I have this one and like the size and quality.
  • Chaveta — this is a nice shape, but I made my own from tool steel.
  • Scissors — for fine detail trimming these are my favorite to use, and always very sharp.
  • Spray Bottle — use with distilled water. I like the fine mist sprayers.
  • Casquillo — used to cut round caps from the leaf. I made my own, and use one size (1/2" copper pipe) for just about everything.
  • Rolling Cutter — can be used for work in place of a chaveta. I don't use them much but they can be very comfortable to use.
  • Gasketed Storage Tote — keeps leaf in good shape for long term storage. I get waterproof totes with a gasket at my local big box.
  • Tuck Cutter — sorry, this is not a link to a tuck cutter on amazon. I got by with these for a long time before I found an afordable antique on ebay that I restored and use.

Consumables

  • Cigar Glue — Bermocoll 320 is what I like the most, and this is where I get mine. Some of the leaf suppliers also have it, so you can save on shipping when you order some with leaf. (I mix mine 1:6, 0.25 tsp of Bermocoll to 1.5 tsp of water.)
  • Cellophane — I order 60 to 120 at a time, but I don't use the stickers that come with this specific brand.
  • Humidity Control Packs — I like Boost and Boveda brands.

Video

  • Bliss Cigar Co. — Strong aesthetic, good instruction and technique. Membership section and occasional live streams.
  • Catharsis Cigars — Clear concise technique, fellow mold maker that makes functional art from wood.
  • PNW Cigars — Consistent and daily motivating live streams, and Discord rolling community. Very easy to pick up and learn from.
