3D Printing Tips
Recommendations for getting the best results printing cigar molds.
- Significant XY skew will prevent the mold halves from joining together
- I recommend PLA+
- 0.2mm layer height
- 0.4mm or 0.6mm nozzle diameter (both work fine)
- Wall thickness should be 1.2mm (3 walls for 0.4mm nozzle, 2 walls for 0.6mm nozzle). If you can't do this, the default in your slicer will be fine.
- 20–30% infill is adequate
- Files should be correctly oriented: the top of the top half and the bottom of the bottom half should face the bed.
- Supports are not needed. The only overhang is the text label on the top, and it prints better without support.
- No thin walls
- Z seam should be oriented at the back of the mold if possible.
